tag editing left Volumio in a bit of a mess

I had some music tags that were all in CAPS and I grew annoyed so I downloaded mp3edit and used the tool to change everything to mixed case.

So for example, what was ‘ANI DIFRANCO’ became ‘Ani Difranco’.

Problem is, now I have two entries for some albums/artists, for example ‘Ani Difranco’ and ‘Ani DiFranco’, and ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’ and ‘A Rush of Blood to the Head’, etc.

Does anyone know how to clear out the Volumio DB of all the tag data and have it scan fresh, short of a full ‘Reset’ (or could do that if necessary).

Hello, not sure whether this would work, but you can try going into settings (geartooth cog) in Volumio, got to the “My Music” menu item and try either the ‘Update’ or the ‘Rescan’ options.

Update is defined to : Update music database entries for any changed, new, or deleted files

Rescan is defined to : Remake music database entries for all files.

I did try that, to no avail.

I may just reset the whole thing and start over.

FWIW,
I did the factory reset option and that mucked everything up, so I ended up downloading the latest volumio distribution, burning it to microSD and starting over, now that my mp3 tags are “ok”.

That worked, everything looks lovely now, took about 1/2 hour.
