Is there a way to prevent folders on a usb device from a scan?

I have two subfolders, flac and mp3, and want only flac to be scanned by Volumio.

Just a file ‘.mpdignore’ with a single line ‘*’ in my ‘mp3’ folder!

I read that thread already but did not realize that it addresses my problem.
