RPi GPIO output when playing

I’ve been looking into this and so far have drawn a blank.

My thought is this; for those of us using our raspis with high power class a/b amplifiers, it’d be nice to have the pi send a given 5v gpio high and use that to trigger a relay to switch the power amp on and off automatically.

I think it’s something that may be selectable in the UI system menu, perhaps?

I’ve looked at a few things, but my lack of Linux/python knowledge is far from that level yet.

Any thoughts?
