hdd install on x86 atom
I was at version 2290, updated to proposed 2.370 and get kernel error (libsomething … kernel 4.9 dir not found), no boot.
Is to fix new installed version or to return to previous version possible?
If not is there a simple method to reinstall without loose music database?
Regards
Yes, this is known and belongs to the risk of updating to a dev version (you were warned about it and agreed).
2.370 was not “released” for external testing yet, unfortunately it did not work, I’m sorry about that.
Please hold on, I’m in the process of correcting it, but may take a day or 2.
There is no way to recover from this except re-flashing…

OK, thanks for answer.
I would to backup to the volumio img file before installing it or after new ssd installation, music database and my settings.
Which files must I retrieve from old installation? Most important is mpd database for me,which is real path to copy it to?
Then about the update option in system menu:
does it show always only current volumio beta version?
is there an option to set available version to look for (stable, last released, beta, a single wanted one)?
thanks in advance
looking at ssd after failed update i see this structure of volumio img:
malo@N56JR:/media/malo/volumioimg1$ ls -l
totale 1672768
-rw------- 1 malo malo 33085440 feb 22 21:07 kernel_current.tar
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 33044480 ott 13 23:42 kernel_factory.tar
-rwxrwxrwx 1 malo malo 34447360 ott 10 17:05 kernel_fallback.tar
drwxrwxrwx 2 root root 16384 set 9 22:38 lost+found
-rw------- 1 malo malo 533446656 feb 22 21:08 volumio_current.sqsh
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 538501120 set 15 17:55 volumio_factory.sqsh
-rwxrwxrwx 1 malo malo 540327936 ott 10 17:06 volumio_fallback.sqsh
malo@N56JR:/media/malo/volumioimg1$
are the fallback files the old installation?
may i restore the old filesystem with mount and chroot?
exactly the same problem at home.
But is someone knows where I can downlod older versions of volumio?
In the better case, I 'would install 2.362 to install spotify connect 2 plugin.
There 's a bug in the 2.368 version, impossible to install plugins manually…
Is a settings backup file implemented?
A file in which volumio stores all settings the user could restore if somthing goes bad…
There is an official plugin to do that.
But I think in your case, format and fresh install will be a better solution.
