Problems with Webradio and Playlists

Hi guys!

I have some problems with the web radio feature in Volumio.

  1. Some radio stations (especially local stations) are indeed found in the search, but when I start I get the error message that the actual audio stream is not found. The problem I noticed in broadcasters like Bayern 1 and Bayern 4. Which web radio providers are the channels searched for?
Although I bypassed the problem by typing the radio station into the playlist by hand. But I would like to know why the problem exists.

  2. When I create a playlist of radio stations and then start them via “playlist”, neither name nor logo of the channels are displayed. In the queue list each station is displayed as “undefined”.
If I replace the queuelist with the playlist, the logos will be displayed, but the channel names will still be displayed as “undefined”. The same problem I have in the playback tab.
If I start a radio station individually from the playlist, there are no problems.

  3. Since I also control Volumio via hardware buttons, I realized that I can not change the radio stations with the buttons and also the buttons in the UI.
For me it is not a problem to change the radio station on the display, but for my grandmother, who also wants to serve the “radio”, that’s a huge problem. That’s why I use hardware buttons for Play, Pause, Next and “Start Playlist Radio Stations” ect…
Is there a solution for this?

Thanks guys for your help.

Volumio is looking at online lists rather than individual radio providers. It is quite likely that some of the URLS change, but are not updated by the list providers.

If these are reproducible, then I think that you should report them as bugs on the Github site, in order to keep track of them.

I can see that your problem 3 is going to be an issue for elderly people, and it would be nice to see it addressed.

Which provider use Volumio? Is it possible to change the default provider? The problem seems to exist especially with the German-speaking stations…

This problem has been reported several times over a longer period on Github. I find some entries …
Should I do another report???

Yes absolutely! My decision was made because of Volumio, because it has many features on the one hand and can be remotely controlled by any device, but on the other hand with the additional use of buttons, it allows fast and easy operation. So even old people and small children can operate the device.
But as long as it fails on such simple things, I will have to put the project on hold.

Although … giving up has never been an option for me.
