Please donât post more than once for the same issue; Iâve deleted your original identical post from this morning.
Hi,
I have the same problem with gapless playback as sinsky describes (but no problem with volume control).
My hardware: Pi3 B and Hifiberry DAC+.
Software: Volumio 2.378
Use case: I play MP3 files from an USB stick.
The problem:
Gapless playback appears to work in principle but not flawless. When I play albums that have no gaps between the songs (e.g. Pink Floyd The Wall or Alan Parsons Tales of Mystery and Imagination), there are always short but audible interruptions between the songs - duration maybe 100 milliseconds or less.
Some of the transitions from one song to the next one sound not âsmoothâ, as if the timing between the songs was not perfect. Again the timing error seems to be about 100 milliseconds or less.
I didnât find any settings for gapless playback in Volumio.
To make sure that my hardware is not the problem I have tried âRuneaudioâ with the same hardware and same music files and it didnât show the problem. All transitions were smooth without any interruptions.
This means that the hardware canât be the problem.
Before someone asks why I donât simply use Runeaudio: For the time being I do, but I like Volumio much more because of its superior and nice user interface - compared to Runeaudio and others.
Any help is appreciated.
crashpilot
There is a parameter in /etc/mpd.conf for gapless playback. In Volumio this is set to ânoâ by default. Maybe somebody knows why this is the case. I have changed the line to
gapless_mp3_playback âyesâ
but I did not experience any change. Perhaps somebody can explain why this does not help ???
Actually I am not sure if my problem means that âGapless playbackâ does not work at all or it is simply not working properly.
@muclomo: Are the gaps you hear between the tracks very short (a fraction of a second) or longer?
@crashpilot - they are very short, sometimes not even noticable
