Since you already have minimserver install , why not use apps like Linn Kazoo or Lumin to browse and search your collection? Its interface beats Volumio’s hands down
I would like to use Kazoo for Volumio as well (Kazoo is the CP I am using for my Linn Majik DSM) but unfortunately I cannot stream to Volumio with Kazoo although it shows up as a separate room in Kazoo.
Thats strange. I use kazoo as CP for Volumio - streaming from a minimserver. Tried with both Rp3 and Tinkerboard - works perfectly. You tried the Lumin app too? For you- is it a case of no sound - or kazoo cant even play any tracks. I am very curious to find out why
interesting.
Kazoo would also give me full Tidal access although understand that Tidal will be implemented in Volumio pretty soon.
May I ask what setup you are using?
I have:
Minimserver for Mac (latest update)
Volumio (latest version, December 2017)
Kazoo (iOS Version, also uptodate)
Raspberry Pi 3 with IQaudIO DigiAmp+
I doubt that the IQaudio DAC is the problem but I will try another Raspberry with a Hifiberry DAC this weekend.
If you’ve registered a Linn product in Kazoo - then it’ll will open up Tidal, Linn Radio in the CP.
If you don’t - you’ll access only your local Upnp library.
For me - I’m using a Tinkerboard (latest version) USB out into an iFi iUSB3 reclocker then finally to my DAC (via the ifi Gemini cable).
Linn Kazoo and Lumin work just fine.
I am suspecting that your IQaudIO DigiAmp+ is causing the problem.
I set my mixer type to “None”, playback mode to “DSD Direct”.
Also this probably is non consequential - but I’ve disabled my wifi and configure volumio with a static ip address
Am curious if you’ve tired the Lumin app
while I was sofar under the - wrong - impression that I cannot stream anything with Kazoo to the Volumio Pi.
Actually I can stream but as far as I can see only mp3 files (which I hardly have).
For all other file formats I get a Kazoo error message “Failed to add track(s) to DS” (or similar).
The IQaudIO Pi has no problems in playing all files including my own HiRes 96/24 ALAC Vinyl rips if the files are stored on the PI’s MicroSD card…
So it’s not a problem of the Pi but somehow Kazoo and/or Minimserver related.
One possible solution which has been recommended in another thread is to convert the “wrong” file formats “on the fly” to WAV which is possible with MinimStreamer and ffmpec installed.
This is very strange indeed. Hmmmm. Have you tried the Lumin CP?
Or maybe can try running bubbleupnp to see if it works. (I assumed that you are familiar with this)
This sends the native format (if the DAC supports it), otherwise transcodes to WAV. That’s enough to get Kazoo to work correctly. Lumin.app has no such problems.
