Only one part of the audio is playing

This will sound like madness. This one got me stumped.

So far this happens with only one song as far as I can see.

The song I’m trying to play is California Dreamin by The Mamas and The Papas. The song has main vocal and chorus. To my astonishment, ONLY the main vocal is playing, no chorus!

I’ve played the song on other devices and it plays just fine.

It sounds like Volumio has split the audio and playing only one half.

I’m very curious to what caused this and if anyone has experienced the same.

[EDIT] Running Volumio on RPi 2.
Not using any DAC.
Output to 2.1 speakers via audio jack.
Source mp3 file and Youtube, both gave the same result.

what is your hardware, dac, device?
what is the source?
It works with no problem from Spotify…

Reason is simple: you are using the analog output of Raspberry PI, which is really TERRIBLE at playing music. The quality of it is really the lowest you can get.

Suggestion: use an I2S DAC, like one from here:
volumio.org/product-category/dac/

You’ll hear the difference :wink: (and all the chorus)

I still find it a bit strange that this behavior happens with just one track :exclamation: (As far as I know of course :wink: )
