For some days now I am not able to connect to AirPlay either from my PC or my smartphone.
It sometimes connects but when playing a song either doesn’t play any sound, or it crashes quickly.
I also seem to have trouble with my WebUI, particularly with the Web Radio as I can’t get any of the (i.e. Top 500 Radios (Shoutcast)) to even open the selection let alone start any of the Web radios up.
I’ve already reset my Volumio installation and restarted my wireless internet several times with no effect.
I’m using a Raspberry Pi 3 with a Hifiberry DAC+ Pro.
Anybody has expierenced the same issues or has an idea what could be wrong?
So I still can‘t seem to fix it.
Volumio appears to be broken as I can‘t access the Web Radio. All the settings pop up extremly delayed after clicking.
I can‘t get AirPlay connection and for some reason my iPhone always shows me two different AppleTVs to connect to even though I don‘t have one.
After AirPlay crashes I cant access Volumio via the Web Interface so I have to restart manually. It does play the startup sound so sound seems to be coming through.
Could there be a error with the Shairport application? Would it make sense to only install Shairport if Volumio ist running so buggy?
If not what could be the reason for Volumio running so buggy?
In the past it worked fine, since the latest iPhone update it appears to be full of bugs. Do you guys think downgrading the iPhone could help? Have you noticed any cases where a newer version of iOS caused troubles to the AirPlay connectivity?
Apple AirPlay works in Volumio with iOS 6, 7, 8 and also higher.
I’m running an RasPi 1A+ with an HifiBerry DAC+ and Volumio 2.522 and AirPlay worked Out-of-the-Box with iOS 8.4.
But with iOS 10.3 it didn’t work at first - it wanted only connect to an AppleTV and not to Volumio. After swiping further in the iOS 10.3 Control Center while in Apple’s Music-App suddenly Volumio showed up and AirPlay worked.
AirPlay is since iOS 9 a bit tricky because Apple has something changed - the Kodi Media-Center has similar issues: for iOS 9 and higher you have to disable ‘Videos and Pictures Support’ in the Kodi-Settings (and if applicable to activate the ‘Wait for Network flag’). iOS 11 should be able to stream at least Audio via AirPlay to Kodi 17.6 or 18.
Volumio 2.522 uses the Shairport version 3.0.2. To display the version connect via SSH with Volumio - the command shairport-sync -v shows Version: “3.0.2-OpenSSL-Avahi-ALSA-soxr-metadata-sysconfdir:/etc” .
