Hello everyone, I ask for help to solve a problem that has afflicted me for a few days. my source of liquid music consists of volumio 2 installed on sparky connected via ethernet to my nas Qnap. Until some time ago no problem: the library was stored on volume and every now and then I updated if I added or removed music from it. Last week I reorganized the cables behind the system, I turn on the volume Nas with its data (ip address, folder containing the music, user and pw), he sees the music but after turning off or restarting Volumio, the stored music is gone. The connection with the nas remains but I have to update the library every time from the beginning. I tried to put static ip but it does not change anything. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your cooperation.
P.s. My music library is composed by over 30.000 files (flac, mp3, m4u, wave)
hi, no one who can help me? I haven’t solved the problem yet and I can access the music of the nas through the media servers function (I’m using the dlna one of qnap, I also try plex and kodi), but it is much slower in reading and it does not always read the exact order of the songs with respect to the direct function from nas. I don’t understand why it sees the nas but once the library has been scanned, when I switch off sparky the library is empty again. Thanks for your help
Maybe this could be linked to the “autoupdate” feature of MPD which is “on” by default with volumio. The bad aspect of this is that, if one day mpd/volumio boots and does not find the music directory, for any reason, it simply erases the database, considering it is empty!
This happened here once, because my HDD was not properly connected… So, I had to rebuild the full database, which takes 3 hours… I guess the same can happen with a NAS, not sure.
Anyway, I prefer not to rely on the autoupdate and perform it only when needed, this is much safer from my pov.
So, I have switched this to “off” manually in mpd.conf, and also in one json file in volumio. I did not find any way to do this directly through volumio web UI.
When I insert new files in my library, I run “mpc update”, and this makes it (done through a script).
Not sure this solves your issue…
You could check the content of the mpd DB, and see whether it is empty or not (see “db_file” in your mpd.conf. Default is “/var/lib/mpd/tag_cache”.
Then there is some news but not positive, after hearing Michelangelo advise me to turn off Volumio and turn off the electricity after the scan, I noticed that there was some problem in Volumio where I continue to see the wheel turning in stand by and sometimes I can operate in the Volumio menu. So I tried to flash another sd card: first perfect boot, everything worked, I set the network, reboot … I can no longer connect to it with volumio.local or with the ip address. Strangely, Volumio appears among the devices connected to the network of my Netgear d6300 router. I tried again 3-4 times and the same thing, both setting ip fixed and ip dynamic; at the first start everything is ok, after which I can’t connect. Obviously I’m doing something wrong or there is something wrong with some device. any suggestions
