Volumio 4 Unable to find the device:
my Volumio 4 OS on a RaPi 3b+ is very difficult to find the device on wireless mode…even though so many restarts i have done. But LAN wired mode it works like a spark.Wireless mode alone the device is very difficult to find (i dont think poor signal because many other devices works very good in the sme room not far from Wifi router).I tried re-instlling also.Iam not a techy savvy guy , a novice with RasPi & Volumio.
Hey @Prabhu_Ja,
Welcome back after two years - quite the hiatus!
Reading your title, I have to ask: where did you last see it? Have you checked behind the router, under the entertainment center, or perhaps in that drawer where cables go to retire? Sometimes these little devices develop wanderlust and end up in the most unexpected places. If someone else in the household might have relocated it, that would be worth investigating as well.
Unless you had something else on your mind - in which case, please review our help request guidelines and provide:
Looking forward to hearing which kind of “finding” problem you are actually experiencing.
Kind Regards,
Hey @Prabhu_Ja,
You edited your post while I was responding - now my joke about checking under the couch cushions looks rather silly. Next time, please compose your full question before hitting submit. That said, we now have something to work with.
So the actual problem is WiFi discovery on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running Volumio 4. Wired works perfectly, wireless does not. That narrows things down considerably.
Before I can investigate further, I still need:
- Exact Volumio version number (example: 3.569 - check in Settings, scroll to bottom)
- Log link from http://volumio.local/dev (connect via ethernet, grab the log, then post the URL here)
- Router brand and model
- WiFi frequency band - is this a 2.4GHz or 5GHz network, or a combined SSID?
- Are you using the built-in WiFi on the Pi 3B+ or a USB WiFi adapter?
The Pi 3B+ onboard WiFi has known quirks with certain router configurations, particularly around power management and 5GHz compatibility. Your observation that other devices work fine in the same room is noted, but the Pi’s onboard radio is not comparable to a phone or laptop WiFi chipset.
Get me that log link via wired connection and we can dig into what is actually happening.
Kind Regards,
