Hello,
I tried to install Volumio 4 on a 2018 Mac Mini.
Following Message is displayed: unable to verify startup disk.
What went wrong?
Thx for your help!
you need to go into your BIOS and enable ‘booting from external or removable media’. You also have to disable ‘secure boot’ in that same section.
As a side note: always make a note of what you change in a BIOS, just in case you change your mind and wish to reverse it.
This helps! Thanks a lot!
I can’t install on internal ssd. Do I have to take it out and erase out of body from Mac Mini?
That is not very helpful, it’s like calling your garage and say “my car doesn’t work, what is the problem?”. Could you give a little more info please.
ok
I’d like to install Volumio on the internal ssd of this Mac Mini.
The setup stopped by 35% and says “undeclared”.
Volumio on usb is the only bootable option, macOS is not shown.
Is there a ssd protection which I have to unable?
Hope, this is more helpful.

I’ve seen this in very rare cases, presumably related to failing to wipe the existing partitions from the internal disk as part of the install procedure.
I’m not sure what your level of ssh/command line skills are, but if you know a way of erasing the disk outside the mac mini, that that would probably work as well.
In case you have the ssd outside, you might as well flash volumio to it.
The ssd is soldered on board, so there is no chance to format it outside.
My Linux skills are zero…
Thanks for your help!
I will use it with usb stick and enjoy ![]()
No problem, then you just need a little more help from us.
Boot from USB and wait until Volumio is loaded.
Then press ctrl-alt-F1, this gives you a terminal screen.
Log in with user ‘volumio’ and password ‘volumio’.
Then type
sudo lsblk
sudo blkid
(when the system asks you for the password, enter ‘volumio’)
Please take a screen shot from the output and upload it here.
