Hello I have nice mini PC with only WiFi built in (no Ethernet) but Volumio can’t detect or doesn’t include driver module for wlan module (Realtek RTL8723BS), this card works in regular Linux distros nicely, please help me with the guide how to install this specific kernel module/driver to enable WiFi functionality . For example, Daphile audiophile OS detects card perfectly and works like a charm, but Volumio sounds a lot better!! This is reason why need replace it.
Thank you very much, running latest Volumio pc build .
If volumio is based on debian, this maybe working?
We are not updating the kernel for the official release anymore and installing additional drivers at runtime won’t work.
Please try our DEV version Download here…
AFAIF I selected all available drivers, including 8723bs
It is a stable version, yet not as well tested as the official version.
Feedback has been good sofar, with a few exceptions like missing firmware.
For x86, Volumio is currently being ported to Debian stretch.
When that is finished, it will have the latest kernel, including the available firmware.
Beta can be expected before rhe end of the year.
Please explain “almost perfect”, does wifi not work as expected?
Also, what do you mean with full driver support and sound quality?
Nothing to worry about, the new kernel and drivers do not have a known influence on SQ.
But they do improve Volumio regarding new hardware and components, including sound cards. We now support a lot more devices than we ever did before.
Do have Volumio deep kernel optimizations (timing, latency) ? or small (benefit from minimal running system services)? Daphile is same manner, but difference is digital domain are dramatic! Almost same audio optimizations but in reality sound is very different
