I don’t know whether this is a Volumio issue, or whether it is my lack of understanding of how metadata fields in FLACs (which I am using in my music database) are structured.
When I do an album search for a compilation album in Volumio where the Album Artist is set to “Various Artists” (due to every song in the compilation being by a different artist), Volumio returns an “album” match for every song. I expect to see one album, not 16 or more matches for the one album.
I am unsure how Volumio searches - is it through the Artist metadata field, or Album Artist field, or, better still, both?
Compilations are strange - where the comp has many tracks, each with a different artist, Album Artist is normally set to “Various Artists”, and the Artist field is set to the name of the artist performing the track; where the comp is like a Best Of (one artist), then the Album Artist metadata field will have the same value as the Artist field.
Is there a workaround for compilations that include many artists, such that ONLY one album is returned by the search please?
