Hi, I’m thinking of buying a Rivo+. Can I use a screenreader like VoiceOver for iPhone to access the software and use it. I’m visiually impaired and want to know before buying if this is possible.?
Hope somebody can let me know. Thanks Stephan
Hi Stefania, If I recall correctly you worked on the labels within Volumio OS on a previous ask for visually impaired people. So maybe your the better person to answer this.
Hi, thank you for forwarding to Stefania! I read the post you refer to but was curious if the development of Volumio still incorperates accessibility. Is there a demo version online that I can try out? Also if needed I am also interested in helping out for testing the accessibility features. Thanks!
You can download Volumio and use it free of charge, only for prime services you need to pay. (like: CD-Ripping, BT, Qobuz, Tidal,…)
Yes thank yoiu for letting me know. But you need a volumio player (raspberry pi of volumio player) i
I downloaded the iphone app. At startup it ask you to add the player. If you don’t have one yet you cant go further… It would be nice if you could go further without a player in a demo version, or something like that.
By the way this setup start is very accessible for me so that’s why I’m asking this. Fontsize systemwide is possible to enlarge etc.
You can also run a try on an x86 pc. You only need to flash the OS to a USB thumb and boot from it.
It’s really sad for me to report that unfortunately we did not improve readability with screen reader and unfortunately there’s no simple way for you to try this unless you install Volumio on a spare PC that you have lying around…
Thank you for clearing this! Unfortunately no pc lying around (mac minded)
I’ve asked the user who had preciously asked about this topic if he is still enyoing volumio.
Tried other platforms (streamers) like eversolo and wiim they are all not very userfriendly for voiceover users.
So maybe this is something in future updates to be considered, accessibility is something that doesn’t have to suffer the design or user experience, it can enhance it!
