I am living in NL, and have a enormous collection of CD’s that I ripped. (Over 2TB of music). Ran into Volumio and “fighting” with it for a couple of weeks now.
Already working with Linux from '94, I do know a bit about it. Specifically when handling huge amounts of data. I therefore would suggest, to make volumio run from, for example, Rpi & USB devices. Should not be hard at all…
Reinstalling it again, after just adding new songs, because… Yup, no swap, runs out of memory and it hangs again… completely freezes up on me.
The web-radio function is nice, tho, but a bit expensive if you get the subscription…
Hence my reluctance to buy the “hardware” version too. I am not looking for a system, that I have to re-install every time I add music to my collection…
