I have one raspberry Pi mounted with an Hifi berry dac plus and the latest version of Volumio (2.348).
The Rasp. Pi is connected to my wifibox with RJ45, is equipped with 4 USB and 1 HDMI. One harddisk, a Western Digital of 4TB is connected directly with USB. He is not powered with a proper alimentation but with the USB.
I use Volumio for some months but I have two remaining problems:
the speed execution of volumio because, I guess, of the big amount of music I directly connect to it (roughly 13 000 pieces of music).
the impossibility to add a folder from my pc (connected the wifi box) or even a nas. Volumio recognize my PC but when I click to add a folder , there is nothing.
I have already researched such some subjects on this on the forum but I have found nothing.
Once your music is indexed then this shouldn’t be causing undue problems in terms of speed. Which RPi are you using, because the experience gets much slicker as the device performance improves.
The auto detection of shares is not guaranteed to work (never has for my system), and in such a situation you need to manually add the details of the share.
For indexation:
The System is slow even after indexation, especially when I want to navigate on the hard disk
Someone have built the RPI for me so I don’t know which version of RPI it is.
For add a folder:
Yeah I have tested to add manually a foldrr from my pc from my (former) NAS. With the IP adress, the name of the folder…But it doesn’t work!
Once, I indicate the path of the foldr I want to share, and Volumio didn’t took into account the folder but did even create the folder in intern system!!
Mmmh which share permissions I have to check? Is that the same permission on cifs or nfs
I have already checked the permissions on the intereted folders on my computer (folder music as well), in the security tab in the page “Properties” an all can be done (reading writing, etc.).
Is that kind of permissions?
starting from the beginning. You need to know the IP address of your computer (192.168.x.y), the name of your share on the computer and the path to it (eg. ‘/volume1/Music’). Make sure that the folder is actually shared.
In the Volumio UI on the ‘My Music’ screen in settings, click on ‘add a new drive’, and fill in the blank fields. ‘Alias’ can be whatever name you want, IP address and the path/share name. That’s all you need to do for CIFS, just press save, and your drive should appear and Volumio start to index it. If there are error messages write them down and post back here.
Please post exactly what you are typing in to the UI fields when you try to add a drive please (obviously you can hide the numbers in your IP address if you feel you need to, but include all symbols used). Or post a screen shot.
