I am Richard (rick30).
I have been loving music since I can think about it. To me, one essential dimension of music is sound. Just one single sound is music. Therefore, the quality I can get from the devices that deliver music to me is essential; despite the fact, my budget is limited. “Musical presence” is what I am aiming for. Getting closer to believing the players and there instruments are in my living room. I have enjoyed Volumio 1.55 for that reason for several years.
I have been testing Volumio 2 from time to time since it is out with a deep disappointment regarding the quality of sound compared to Volumio 1.55. To the point, I am still using 1.55 despite all the drawbacks. With 1.55, I am using the sound quality tweak kernel profile “Mike”. Could that be a clue?
My listening tests have been serious. There has to be a reason for this difference… Hopefully we can get the best from the two.
