Does it make sense to have a CD player if you already have an RbPi with Volumio?

I expect the rPi5 is even more critical for Voltage drops on the USB port.
If I boot with a CD in the drive I can play a CD, It doesn’t skip, If I open it and load the CD, The rPi5 restarts.
Only have the drive for testing as all music is ripped, on Qobuz or Tidal :slight_smile:

I also have everything recorded on NAS or Vinyl. But sometimes I get CDs from local artists and I would like to listen to them via Volumio. Well, I will play on RPi 4. Thanks @Wheaten

Or you get creative and cut the black and red wire from the USB cable…

Maybe that’s a good idea. I’ll try. I will power it from an additional source.

Here is the link, with some info on the Diode.
Guess you can skip the 100uF caps, if you use the same PSU which feeds the rpi5.
