Thanks Wheaten Your post prompted NFS/SMB as a google question and it brought up the answer on this forum a help topic
And its answered my question as I can now see my router loading up its contents, nearly 2 TB’s worth,will report back on progress but it looks good so far.
Tried it and working exatly how I thought it shoud - THANKS AGAIN
