Complete Novice

Hi Everyone
New to all this but I’m hoping that someone can point me in the right direction as you can guess from the heading I’m a complete novice.
I thought that by acquiring a package, in my case the Allo BOSS Player with a Raspberry PI 3 B+ and Volumio pre-installed,it would be fairly painless. The new player turned up. I plugged in the power supply and let it sit for 30 mins, all the led’s are either on or flashing (as per the very brief instructions). I downloaded the Volumio app for my android phone. All good.
The app opens up and you get a message ‘Searching for a device’ then about 20 seconds later ‘Device not found’.

Having spent a good while searching this forum and other sites, I’m yet to come across any useful information.
Any guidance would be most welcome.

Are you using wifi, and if so have you set up the details of your network on your device? (Have a look at the Quick start guide in my signature, if you haven’t already done so)

Yes Im using wifi. Regarding setting up the network on a device? what device would that be. I will have another look at the quick start guide.
