Can't Control Digital Input Volume with HiFiBerry DAC+ DSP

Hello all,

I just recently purchased a HiFiBerry DAC+ DSP hat for my RPi 4 Model B 4GB. I tried using the digital (TOSLink) input, outputting RCA to an amplifier and noticed I can’t control the volume. How would I go about controlling the volume from the app?

Did you set the Mixer option under “Volume option” in the Playback Options to hard-, or software?

I have it set to Software, as that is the only option other than none.

Did read your question properly. I don’t think you can do this with the volume control of Volumio.
I saw a topic on HifiBerry to install tools to do this. But then you control your volume via a separate webpage.

Hi,

Two stupid questions (sorry) :

1°) did you restarted the device after you made changes to the I2S settings ?
2°) have you tried to control Volumio with third party software (on Android I can recommend Sympfonium or BubbleUPnP) and when you’re controlling Volumio from those apps, can you try to hit the Volume Buttons of your device (tablet or phone) ?

For me that works… Unless I misunderstood your set-up :frowning:
