Can't connect - but somehow connected!

Hi

For some reason, Volumio will no longer connect - it suddenly stopped without me having made any changes to settings. Rebooting makes no difference. But the Pi is on the network, because I can still access the “internal” share where I have 200Gb of flac music stored. From a browser or Putty I get “connection refused”.

I’d like help connecting, if anyone has any ideas?

Alternatively, I’m very happy to simply reinstall Volumio on the SD card… except that it will wipe all 200Gb of music! Is there a way to just copy the second partition on an SD card with a volumio image? (I’m using a Windows 10 laptop and have been using Rufus to copy the standard volumio image over, which wipes the entire SD card).

Many thanks, Mark.

So, you can’t ssh into the command line? Are you sure that the RPi’s IP address hasn’t changed? Is it a wireless or wired connection?

With regards, to your second point, the Volumio image will contain info on the final partitions structure, and so will always overwrite everything on the SD card, so whenever you have a new installation you will always have to copy over 200GB of files. What about keeping your files on a USB drive?

Yes, I had a static IP and I can still get via that to the music files.

I could nuke the SD card… but I’d like to get back online so I can figure out why it stopped, and therefore prevent that happening in future.

If I reinstall, is there a way to clone just the Volumio partition, so that I could reinstate that at a future date? eg would Macrium Reflect work, or is there a simpler way (using a Windows 10 laptop)?
