Volumio running CD drive at noisy high speed

I am using an HP USB CD/DVD Drive (F2B56AA). Volumio is running the drive at high speed (up to 24x for this drive), and the drive is very noisy as it is constantly spinning up and spinning down while playing a CD. When I connect the same drive to my Mac or PC and play a CD with VLC or Apple Music, the drive is almost silent. I am running the latest version of Volumio 3.

Which CD-Drive for using CD-Plugin

Hi guys, I am using RPi4 with latest Volumio OS. I installed CD-Plugin and connected this drive Asus DRW-24D5MT interner 24x DVD Brenner schwarz: Amazon.de: Computer & Zubehör. Everythings works fine but the drive is really slow an a a little bit noisy. Reading a CD takes 15 seconds or more an skipping from one song to the other takes 7 seconds. Had somebody an idea which drive will be faster and not so much noisy? Regards Daniel

Does Volumio 3 support gapless CD playback?

Volumio 2 did not support gapless CD playback. How about Volumio 3? Gapless playback is important for classical music CDs. In music with long movements (such as Mahler symphonies), the record label sometimes splits a long movement into multiple tracks. On a standard CD player, it will play continuously without interruption, but when a software player doesn’t support gapless, there may be a brief pause between tracks.
