Im getting the error seen in the pic on a first time set up. I tried to install alsa-utils but they were already installed. aplay -l recognizes my hifi dac.
I also did
sudo nano /etc/asound.confand added the following as directed by a google search
defaults.pcm.card 0
defaults.pcm.device 0
defaults.pcm.substream 0
defaults.pcm.hw_name 0
anyone got any other ideas?

Please provide:
- What is your hardware
- What is your DAC
- What version of Volumio are you using, don’t say the latest
To support you:
- Perform a factory reset
- Run the configuration wizard
- Reboot your device
- Dont install any plugin
Is the alsa error still there, if Yes:
- Provide a log
- Output of
cat /boot/config.txt
- Output of
cat /boot/userconfig.txt
- Output of
aplay -l
