Hi,
what’s about the new acrylic case?
I have RPI3+Boss+Volt but it seems I have to desolder RCA connector to use it.
Anyone have this case?
Hi
are you having problems with your case ?
Is anymore work being done on the clicks? Although it is much better after the initial flurry of builds I still find it annoying
I am interesting in Boss DAC as well.
What you are saying is that I can supply 5V current via J4 to power both Boss and RPi, am I right?
Should I remove resistor or do anything else?
Yes, you can. You don’t have to remove the resistor If you want to power the pi with the same psu

Just received my BOSS DAC.
What kind of connector should I get for the J4 external power?
Is there any place I can use to provide electricity power other then J4?
I don’t have the case yet.
I would like to know if I have to solder anything to put rpi+boss+volt inside it.
I did a mistake buying boss before the case was in the shop
I’m very happy with it but each time my wife is going around it I have an heart attack

Hi,
I tried to post this over on the Allo forums, but could never get registered. Initially “waiting for anmid approval” and now it seems to have just forgotten about me. Oh well - Allo seems to follow this thread so I’ll ask here instead.
I’ve got an Allo Boss on an RPi3 and want a few GPIOs exposed. Fortunately there’s a few of them available on the J19 Volt header … I’m currently using this to tap a GPIO for use with the Amp Switch plug in. My question is regarding the pins marked N/C in the Allo documentation. Specifically, I measure 3.3V on pins 3 and 4. I’m hoping this means these pins are tied to the 3.3V power rail on the Pi. Can someone from Allo confirm or refute this? It would greatly simplify hooking up additional GPIO stuff that needed 3.3V! I suppose I could stack a proto HAT under the Boss, but for my present needs it would be neater to just work with J19.
Thanks!
I sent the request/question to the engineering team…
Yes on Pin3 and Pin4 , 3.3V from RPI is available.
Hello, has anyone tried to feed the boss independently?
In that case, how did you do it and what result did you get?
I have the suspicion that to feed of separate form the Boss has noticed in the final result.
Thanls
Thank you! Exactly what I wanted to hear. One small suggestion I would make for the documentation - I presume the pins on J19 marked “NC” are so designated because the Allo Volt doesn’t use them, and therefore they are “NC” on the volt. This would be OK for the Volt documentation, but for the Boss, it would be useful for the docs to specify fully what each pin really does. I’m sure I’m not the only one to re-purpose the J19 header, and it’s good to know I’ve got 3.3v available.
Thanks again for the quick reply!
Hi Michelangelo, I finally got my Allo Boss DAC.
But it does not work … it has no sound. In the Playback window, everything is correct, working normally.
Use Rasp 3 and Volumium 2,185. The DAC starts correctly, the settings appear to be correct. I disabled all the plugins.
I am very disappointed, I do not know what to do.
Can I be doing something wrong? Is there something obvious that I’m forgetting?
Regard
Daniel

Well … I reinstalled Volumio, it works perfect.
The first impression (tomorrow I try thoroughly) was: Wow !!!

Happy to hear that! Enjoy!
I read that the DAC Boss has a supercapacitor, so that its operation is 100% must be charged by reproducing continuously for 25 to 50 hours. It is right? Is it worth pausing in playback?

Daniel
You can listen to it meanwhile…it will just get better after 50h up to 2 weeks.
Hi,
Since i cannot use the sparky with the Allo Boss dac,
I am now delegating the RPI to BOSS dac, Question is will the isolator make a noticeable difference in a RPI>>>ISOLATOR>>>BOSS versus a RPI>>>BOSS.
also will i need a new case or will the existing case work for it.
As for volumio is the ISOLATOR transparent to the Volumio build as all the processing is hardware based
^^ anyone have an answer to this, also interested to know if it is beneficial.
Yes its beneficial.
Its not a game changer but audio is better.
