I am in a bit of trouble with my volumio/raspberry pie combo and need some help, as I am pretty much lost.
I had the pie set up with volumio a year ago and it ran perfectly fine from the beginning, as easily as it was promised. No problems whatsoever.
3 months ago we moved to a different place and switched the internet provider and got a new router. That is basically all that changed, I am still using the same hardware, the same usb connected hdd and the same pie, connected to the same hifi rig.
So right now Volumio runs in a loop, its still playing one song playlist up and down when its turned on, but I am not able to connect to it via volumio.local and our router does not show the pie as a connected device.
I already switched the ethernet cable, but there is no way, at least for me, to connect to it.
As my linux abilities are limited to step by step instructions I haven’t tried out to connect the pie to a monitor/keyboard setup, as I would barely know what to look for then.
Does volumio have problems connecting to a new network? Do I have to manually tell it, that its not in the old one anymore?
Do any of you have ideas and/or solutions for a dummie like me? Any help is extremely appreciated and I thank everyone in advance, who wants to help.
I logged on and used ifconfig. It says the pie has an ip, it is the same it had when it was still working in our last network. a static ip obviously.
When I try to ping that ip it wont work, though.
Can you compare the ip of the PI and the one with your computer? If the PI has a static IP and your router has a different network configure it won’t work indeed.
My router won’t show the pie on “connected devices” and by pinging the ip the pie should have I don’t get any results.
I tried out nmap for scanning my network for devices, but I am not really sure if I used that prog the right way. So that’s not really a help so far.
It is as if the pie is physically not connected to the lan, but i already tried out the same cable the ps3 is using and that can’t be the problem.
Any of you guys can tell me how I can change the pie’s static ip to a dynamic one? I guess that might be one way to try out?!
you’re looking for something that looks like that :
You wanna see the “state UP” attribute
Then reboot, make sure there is a green and orange light where the cable is connected on the raspberry. It’s a visual confirmation that the cable is well plugged
If it still doesn’t work, provide me the ip of the PI and your router or PC. I’ll let you know if they’re compatible
