About the Introduce Yourself category

Hello, I used Volumio for a while when I dabbled with Micro computers, but the whole raspberry pi thing, I don’t want to do that. I had enough of that in professional life, I was a program developer for a long time.

I’ve come here essentially to get information on the difference between the Rivo and the Rivo+.

Hello, Norm here in Aberdeen Scotland. I have owned a Linn Klassik with Katan speakers for half a lifetime and five years ago I wanted to add streaming into the mix. I decided to build a Raspberry Pi with HiFiBerry Dac. After an ill-fated attempt to master another bit of software I tried Volumio and it worked first time for me. It still works, but I have long since last my Pi skills and no longer know Volumio passwords and the like, so it’s time to reinvest. I was on the point of buying the new HiFBerry HD Dac, but then though I ought to ask around whether there were other and maybe better DAC Hat options. Any and all pointers will be very welcome.

Hi Norm,
I’ve owned two HiFiBerry DACs, the Plus and the HD. Both were good. I now have a small USB DAC, the Topping D10S, which is about 100-110 UK pounds. This was a significant upgrade in sound quality over the hats.
Volumio username and password is ‘volumio’. Don’t change it!

Thanks so much, Simon. I hadn’t considered an external DAC, but early researches on the Topping suggest I really ought to think about it. Thanks for the hint, much appreciated. Norm.
