A REAL screensaver for touchscreen?

Hi guys!

I wonder if anyone here has a real screensaver on a touchscreen.

At the Moment the screensaver blank only the screen, but the backlight stills on.

So my idea is to have a 2 Step touchscreen.
After 5min without touching, a real screensaver should start. For example a clock or weather info would be perfect.
After another 20min withou touching, a GPIO should poweroff the backlight.

I tried to install a graphical debian xscreensaver over SSH, but it doesn’t work.
After I finished the install and tried to start the xscreensaver setup, I had the error message “Can’t find Screen”

To switch off the backlight I think I will solve this problem by a phyton script.
But I have no idea to watch out when the screensaver starts and stops.

Has anybody a idea how could I do? Or has anybody a running project?
