A few bugs with latest Volumio updates.

Hiya,

I’ve been using Volumio for many months and until now have loved using it. With the original image I’d flashed to the Pi i could use my spotify and the HiFiBerry DAC board with my Pi 3 I have just fine. No complaints, great system.

Since updating it a month or so back, I’ve noticed numerous problems developing that seem to get worse and worse, I’ve tried re-flashing, checking for updates etc, to no success.
The symptoms are as follows:
Spotify connect mysteriously and continually pausing itself (no other users on the account).
Spotify section on web interface will no longer display any of my playlists, just an empty section where my playlists should be. (spotify password is definitely correct)
Period blips of noise over music like someone jiggling the RCA cables in the DAC board, although I’ve checked the connections to the DAC and they seem fine. Even if there is a problem with the DAC this wouldn’t explain the previous two symptoms?

Contemplating just looking for an older image to flash the Pi with, any suggestions would be appreciated?
Cheers,
Sean

Hi Sean — There is a posting on Page 2 of the HELP Thread — “Older volumio versions .img files” which has the URL locations of older Volumio Versions that can be downloaded.

There is also a changelog in the posting, which might help you decide on a version to try based upon what you had originally.

Good Hunting,
Stew

Hi, reverting to old volumio install will change nothing since the issues you’re experiencing are related to plugins:

  • Spotify just deprecated a part of the library we’re using, that’s why you don’t see your playlists. Nothing we can do here, but there are developments in this thread: help-needed-test-spotify-plugin-with-oauth-t10071.html
  • Spotify connect plugin is a community developed plugin. Please report to balbuze the issue, this is useful info for him to improve the plugin
